Delivering for Seattle’s Kids
Protected Students from Disruption: Helped lead efforts to push back on a premature school closure plan that would have caused unnecessary harm to students and families. Advocated for solutions that are fiscally responsible and student-centered because the cure must never be worse than the disease.
Advocated for Progressive Funding: Worked tirelessly to demand more state funding for public schools, emphasizing that sustainable solutions require progressive revenue—not austerity. Cutting alone will not solve the challenges we face.
Elevated Community Voice: Ensured that the drafting of the district’s new strategic vision was driven by broad, authentic community input.
Protected Equity-Centered Programs: Advocated for continued support of option schools, dual language programs, Highly Capable services, and school assignment models that reflect the diversity of student needs and strengths.
Tackled Enrollment Declines: Continues to ask hard questions about why families are leaving the district and is committed to working toward solutions that help Seattle Public Schools retain and serve students better.
Accountable Leadership: Played a key role in shaping the superintendent search and holding district leadership accountable to being responsive and community-focused.
